Metallic Jeans, are you wearing them?

Metallic is one of the latest trends with jeans. The style is still skinny but the finish is metallic in shades like gold, silver and even blue. They can be worn like regular denim, the metallic coating just gives a bit of flair to a regular denim look. Even FLOTUS has a pair! Michelle Obama wore them to the Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice awards. There are high end and low end makers of this trend and I've compiled a list for those interested in purchasing a pair.

These heels can best be described as classic meets fun. The almond toe is classic but the metal island platform screams fun. The heel measures a whopping 5 and 3/4 inches but the island helps balance the high heel height and makes the shoe comfortable to wear. They are incredibly popular with celebrities, as seen below and on Beyonce here).

But at $895.00 the price may cause many to pause.  I found a few affordable look for less options.

D squared2's crystal embellished heels are gorgeous! June Ambrose is wearing them in an exclusive pink colorway. They also start at $1400 (ouch!). Check them out  here and here. They would be great with a cocktail dress for a holiday party.  I love the look and found a few alternatives for much less. 

Jenni Kayne d'Orsay Flats

These comfortable (I haven't tried them so I can't vouch for that) and menswear inspired shoes have been getting lots of love. They come in an assortment of colors and materials. Check them out on Jenni Kayne's website and at Shopbop.

Alexander Wang Contrast Sweater Dress

Illusion dresses or contrast panel dresses are EVERYWHERE. And they should be! The contrast panel helps gives the illusion of curves by slimming the waist line. Who doesn't want that? Just about every women's dress designer has a contrast panel dress in their collection in different materials and various colors. This Alexander Wang dress combines a sweater like panel with contrasting sides and the Zara version below is a great look for less.

Strappy pointed toe pump

Pointed toe pumps have returned. I was hesitant about returning to this look but this season's pointed toe pumps do not feature the extreme point that made pointed toe shoes look witch-like in the past. Pointed toe pumps are great for elongating the leg. I've also noticed another trend accompanying this season's pointed toe pumps-- the addition of either straps or a cap toe. Below are two of my favorite strappy pointed toe pumps.

Steel Heels

I spotted Karolina Kurkova, Thandie Newton and Kim Kardashian in silver heels. Thandie Newton and Kim Kardashian in Jimmy Choo Anouk heels and Karolina Kurkova in Manolo Blahnik. I really like how Karolina paired the cool toned shoes with an orange and blue dress. It is an unexpected clash that works really well together. Silver pumps can be worn casually with jeans or you can glam them up. My go to pair are four inch t-straps from Michael Kors that I have had well over three years. They are so versatile. Here are some some affordable silver pumps option for those lacking a pair in their closet.

For the occasion Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors dress in this season's "it" color, oxblood. The dress is no longer available as it is an old item that she actually wore in the past. I need to take a hint from her and shop my closet more often.

I received a request for a post regarding bras that can be worn with backless dresses like the ones featured in my previous post. I will be honest, backless dresses aren't made for everyone, however, if you are busty that does not mean you are automatically excluded.
